Father John Christopher Cusmano, passed on from this life on October 29, 2011, at the age of 73.
Father Cusmano was born on September 6, 1938, in Detroit and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 6, 1964. He served as associate pastor at St. Sebastian Parish, Dearborn Heights; Holy Innocents Parish, Roseville; St. Martin of Tours Parish, Detroit; St. Matthew Parish, Detroit; Divine Child Parish, Dearborn; and St. Martin de Porres Parish, Warren. Father Cusmano was granted senior priest status on March 25, 2003.
He will be waked at the Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home, 54880 Van Dyke, Shelby Township (586-677-4000). Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1 from 2 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30.
Father Cusmano will lie in repose on Wednesday, November 2 at St. John Vianney Parish, Shelby Township, from 12:30 p.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Father Cusmano was predeceased by his parents Christopher and Rose Cusmano. He is survived by his sister Nina (Joseph) Majetic; nieces Christina and Nina; and nephew Joey. Condolences may be sent to Nina Majetic, 16919 Mary Wood, Macomb Township, Michigan 48042.
