Fr. Malcolm Maloney, OFM Cap, who had ministered throughout the region as a chaplain, pastor and retreat leader before his retirement to the St. Bonaventure Monastery in Detroit, died July 23 at the age of 84.
Fr. Maloney was the son of the late John and Virginia Maloney, and brother of Fr. Joseph Maloney, OFM-Cap., James Maloney and the late Mary Ronayne. He also is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation was to have been at the Verheyden Funeral Homein Grosse Pointe on Tuesday; and at St. Bonaventure Monastery 1740 Mount Elliott in Detroit from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, with prayers at 8 p.m. On Thursday, July 28, Fr. Maloney’s body was to lie in repose from 9 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial was to be at the monastery cemetery.
