Father Alexander J. Wytrwal, passed on from this life on March 11, 2011 at the age of 87.
Father Wytrwal was born on April 20, 1923 in Detroit and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on May 20, 1950. He served as associate pastor at St. Florian Parish, Hamtramck; St. Albertus Parish, Detroit; St. Francis Xavier Parish, Ecorse; St. Christopher Parish, Detroit; and St. Louis the King Parish, Detroit; and as pastor at St. Stephen Parish, New Boston.
He will be waked at the Jarzembowski Funeral Home, 18957 West Warren Avenue (at Artesian), Detroit (313-271-0800). Visitation hours will be on Monday, March 14 from 2 to 9 p.m.
Father Wytrwal will lie in repose on Tuesday, March 15 at St. Stephen Church, 18858 Huron River Drive (at Sibley Road), New Boston (734.753.5268), beginning at 1 p.m., with continuous overnight vigil until the celebration of his funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 16 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Detroit.
Father Wytrwal was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Nellie. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Joseph Wytrwal. Donations may be made to St. Stephen Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 35, New Boston, MI 48164.
