Father James Paschal O’Hagan, passed on from this life on October 17 at the age of 87.
Father O’Hagan was born on October 29, 1922 in Detroit and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on May 31, 1947. He served as associate pastor at St. John the Evangelist Parish, Detroit; St. Gertrude Parish, St. Clair Shores; St. Mary Parish, Royal Oak; and St. Joseph Parish, Trenton; and as pastor at St. Gerald Parish, Farmington; St. Matthew Parish, Detroit; St. Athanasius Parish, Roseville; and St. Benedict Parish, Waterford. In addition, he served on the faculty of Sacred Heart Major Seminary. He was granted senior priest status in 1999.
Visitation will be at St. Benedict Church, Waterford, on Wednesday, October 20 from 3 to 9 p.m., with a Scripture service at 7 p.m.
Father O’Hagan will lie in state on Thursday, October 21 at St. Benedict from 10 a.m. until the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Cemetery, Lake Orion.
